DTS Central Monitor utility DTSCMON
21st May 1997
A totally new, very powerful tool for monitoring of Distributed Transaction System networks is now available.
Based on the DTSSTAT distributed status query capability offered by many DTS implementations the
DTS Central Monitor, DTSCMON, enables easy centralized control of DTS networks of any size.
The state information of individual nodes in the networks is retrieved automatically on predefined poll
intervals and presented on the monitoring screen graphically. Detailed statistics for each node are browsable
and possible error message information is translated by DTSCMON for easier troubleshooting.
Failing message transmission routes are indicated instantly and the operator may also analyze successful
message routes and the load distribution between distinct nodes. The state of message queues in all the
nodes of the monitored network can be seen at one glance. Terminal emulator applications
may be integrated with DTSCMON to enable easy access to remote systems for further management.
DTSCMON V1.0 is an implementation for 16-bit Windows environments. It is layered on top of Distributed
Inquiry Interface for Windows (DII/Windows), the DTS client functionality for 16-bit Windows.
A properly installed and configured setup of DII/Windows is required before DTSCMON can be successfully installed
and used. A 32-bit implementation layered on DTS/WinNT will be released later.
Further information about the Distributed Transaction
System product family is available.
