A new release of the Distributed Transaction System for IBM RS/6000 AIX is now shipping.
DTS/AIX V4.0 is a full-function DTS environment for IBM RISC System/6000, recently renamed as e-server
pSeries, hardware running AIX operating system version 4.3 or later.
In addition to the services provided by the previous version 2.1 the new release now
introduces desired new features like
- Strong data encryption support DTSCRYPT as a software option
- Completely dynamic back-end Handler support to allow usage of shared object libraries and on-the-fly Handler definition and swapping
- Dynamic configuration load option to allow DTS configuration modifications to be performed without a need to restart any server processes
- Enhanced transaction logging with a capability to include customised message user data extracts into DTS log files and browse this information with the DTSMON utility
- Logging of incoming remote IP addresses
Since version 3.0 was never available for AIX environment, the features included in other DTS UNIX level III implementations are
now finally introduced in DTS/AIX 4.0.
DTS/AIX V4.0 offers both TCP/IP and SNA LU6.2 communications, layered on the operating system IP services
and the optional SNA Server/6000 or CS/SNA communication stack.
Via DTS a HP 9000 HP-UX system can access application services on and exchange
messages with other DTS environments like other UNIXes, VMS, CICS, MPE, OS/400, Windows...
The DTSCRYPT strong data encryption support provides DTS transactions and intersystem communication a very secure environment
where business critical data may be transferred as DTS messages over insecure communication
lines safely.
DTS/AIX V4.0 uses the DTS License Authorization Key mechanism. It allows more flexible
distribution of evaluation kits and software upgrades. To submit a request for a free evaluation license,
