A new parallel distribution of DTS/HP-UX V4.0 is now shipping. DTS/HP-UX V4.0 PA2-64 is a full-function DTS environment for HP 9000 PA2 processor architecture running HP-UX operating system with native 64-bit applications.

The new version is a true 64-bit implementation of the DTS Middleware kernel, taking advantage of the longer processor word length. Significant improvement in cryptography calculation speed is the most visible benefit when compared to the 32-bit PA1/PA2 version.

DTS/HP-UX V4.0 PA2-64 may be installed on any 64-bit PA2-based HP-UX environment, but the actual decision whether a 64-bit DTS is feasible depends on whether the user applications interacting with DTS Middleware are 32- or 64-bit. The 32-bit version of DTS/HP-UX V4.0 may be used on all HP-UX PA1/PA2 platforms as long as the operative applications reside in 32-bit architecture.

As its parallel implemention for 32-bit HP 9000 architecture, DTS/HP-UX V4.0 PA2-64 offers TCP/IP communications, layered on the operating system IP services. The DTSCRYPT strong data encryption support provides DTS transactions and intersystem communication a very secure environment where business critical data may be transferred as DTS messages over insecure communication lines safely.
