The Finnlines Group has built their Internet/extranet user authentication management
on Tascomm DTSAUTH
system. The product has been customised to fully meet the demand of this large organisation.
The solution enables user authetication and usage permission checkout in distributed
environments where a user may be concurrently connected to several internal operative systems from
several public Internet servers even in different countries. Authentication and permissions are
handled globally, regardless of location and physical server hardware. For a large and complex
organisation operating world-wide and having a lot of moving user objects, like ships and trucks,
the location independence of the authentication is critical.
Finnlines also has a strong background of using
Distributed Transaction System
Middleware messaging for their operative database data transfer between host systems at different
sites around Europe. DTS was chosen over database vendors' own distribution tools because of its robustness
and excellent performance.
